Many people we have been talking to are also aware... and with every new customer meeting, IPv6 is involved in the discussion at some point. Many of these customers are dual stacking all new services that are easy to do at the moment, like web servers/colo, etc.... anything that gets them using it and helps with them getting comfortable. We will be doing an aggressive rollout of IPv6 across most of our customer networks in the next couple of months, hopefully bringing a good selection of content, access and hosting facilities using IPv6. That said, our experience is there is a lot of interest and excitement about it, and all customers who we bring on to APNIC are getting IPv6 and are deploying it in parallel with IPv4 (even if their upstreams don't support it, in readiness for when they do). So in Summary, I think giving members who renew the option to take IPv6, or issuing it to active members to encourage them, cannot possibly hurt anything. ...Skeeve -- Skeeve Stevens, CEO/Technical Director eintellego Pty Ltd - The Networking Specialists skeeve at eintellego dot net / www.eintellego.net Phone: 1300 753 383, Fax: (+612) 8572 9954 Cell +61 (0)414 753 383 / skype://skeeve www.linkedin.com/in/skeeve ; facebook.com/eintellego -- NOC, NOC, who's there?-----Original Message----- From: James Spenceley [mailto:james at iroute dot org] Sent: Monday, 10 August 2009 10:29 AM To: Randy Bush Cc: Skeeve Stevens; sig-policy at apnic dot net Subject: Re: [sig-policy] [Sig-policy] prop-073:Automatic allocation/assignmentof IPv6my point was that giving folk ipv6 space when they don't ask for it will do absolutely nothing for ipv6 deployment. make it easy and cheap when they ask for it.I tend to agree with Randy, reducing the barrier to entry not just members but also *non members* IMHO is a good target.randy-- James* sig-policy: APNIC SIG on resource management policy * _______________________________________________ sig-policy mailing list sig-policy at lists dot apnic dot net http://mailman.apnic.net/mailman/listinfo/sig-policy --
