_______________________________________________________________________

Draft document review:

    - Policies for Autonomous System number management in the Asia
      Pacific region
_______________________________________________________________________

Dear SIG members

APNIC seeks final editorial comments on the following draft document:

   - Policies for Autonomous System number management in the Asia
     Pacific region
     http://www.apnic.net/docs/drafts/draft-asn-policy-v004.html

The document has been updated to reflect the implementation of
the following policy proposal that reached consensus at APNIC 26 and
was endorsed by the Executive Council on 20 November 2008:

prop-064: Change to assignment policy for AS numbers
    http://www.apnic.net/policy/proposals/prop-064-v002.html

It also reflects the adoption of the asplain format for four-byte AS
numbers specified in RFC 5396.

The changes are as follows:

    - The asdot representation of four-byte AS numbers has been removed
      from section 3.2
    - Section 6.3 includes the new 1 July 2009 date in the timetable
for moving from two-byte only AS numbers to four-byte only AS
      numbers

Associated web pages and forms will be updated on 16 February 2009, the
date the policies are implemented.

Nature of the document review
-----------------------------

This is an editorial review only. The APNIC community has already
reached consensus on the policy issue that is to be implemented.

Therefore, during the comment period, interested parties may:

   - Object to the draft document on the grounds that it does not
properly reflect the consensus decision reached in the Policy
     Review Process
   - Suggest improvements of any aspect of the document
   - Request that an additional call for comment be made to allow
     more consideration of substantial revisions

Deadline for comments
---------------------

Your comments are requested by 9 February 2009. Please send your
comments to the sig-policy mailing list. Details at:
