New IPv6 policy implemented on 1 July 2002

APNIC is pleased to announce the implementation of the new IPv6 policy
effective 1 July 2002. The new IPv6 policy was accepted by consensus at
APNIC's 13th Open Policy Meeting and is common to all Regional Internet
Registry communities - APNIC, ARIN, and the RIPE NCC. The new policy
replaces the provisional IPv6 policy launched in 1999.

APNIC is also developing a summary version of the IPv6 policy document
and will announce it to members for comment shortly.

Policy highlights
-----------------
- Minimum allocation size is /32
- Eligibility criteria based on a plan to make at least 200 /48
assignments to other organisations within two years
- Members currently holding a /35 have the option of expanding their
allocation to a /32 on request
Amendments to fees
------------------
To ensure that the minimum allocation of IPv6 address space continues to
correspond with the "Small" member category a new Membership Fee
Schedule has also been implemented from 1 July 2002. Details of the fee
amendments are available at:
