VISA APPLICATIONS
For anyone having difficulties obtaining a Taiwanese visa please contact
Joanna Tso at TWNIC, <joanna at twnic dot net dot tw>, urgently so that she can
provide assistance. Applications for a Landing Visa must be lodged one
week prior to arrival in Taiwan.
Holders of passports from the following countries are eligible for visa
free entry for up to 14 days (with no extension permitted):
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Costa Rica, France, Germany,
Greece, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand, the Netherlands,
Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and USA.

The "early bird" registration discount for the meeting is no longer
available, however online registration (with secure credit card payment)

APNIC HOSTMASTER CONSULTATIONS
APNIC Hostmaster staff will be available to meet with members during the
Open Policy Meeting. The Hostmaster consultations provide an opportunity
for members to discuss their Internet resource applications or any other
issues that members would like to raise. A schedule of the available
Hostmaster consultation sessions and an online registration form are now
available at:

Registrations for Hostmaster consultations should be made as soon as
possible, preferably before the Open Policy Meeting commences. Online
registrations will be open until 12 noon (Brisbane time) Friday 24
August 2001. Registrations can also be made at the Open Policy Meeting
Registration Desk but should be booked at least a half day in advance of
the session sought.
Preference will be given to APNIC Members. However non-members who wish
to attend may register and be placed on a waiting list. If there are any
free places available before the consultation, these will be allocated
to the waiting list.
Any enquiries about Hostmaster Consultations can be emailed to

in Taipei from 8:30 am on Tuesday 28 August 2001.

ASO ADDRESS COUNCIL ELECTION
During the ASO Meeting session on Friday 31 August, an election will be
held to appoint an individual from the Asia Pacific Internet community
to serve on the ASO Address Council.

APNIC MEMBER MEETING UPDATE
The APNIC Member Meeting on 31 August will provide a forum for Member
issues and discussion, however please note that this meeting is open to
all.

APNIC MEMBER AND STAKEHOLDER SURVEY
The meeting in Taipei will provide an opportunities for APNIC Members
and others to participate in the Second APNIC Members and Stakeholders
Survey, which is currently underway.
This important survey aims to widely canvas the views and inputs of
APNIC's community, and to contribute to APNIC's future planning
processes. It has been commissioned by the APNIC EC and is being
conducted independently by international management consulting firm
KPMG.
Small group discussion sessions will be held at the Grand Hotel in
Taipei, on 29 August, 30 August and 1 September; at 9am, 10.30am and 12
midday. Each session will accommodate 10 to 15 participants and last
approximately one hour.

the APNIC secretariat room (Room 107, Grand Hotel) from 27 August 2001.
