[apnic-announce] APNIC SIGs at APRICOT 2000
[Note "reply-to:" field]
During APRICOT 2000 week (28 Feb - 3 Mar, Seoul, Korea), APNIC plans for
the first time, to hold a series of "Special Interest Groups" (SIGs). The
motivation for the SIGs is to provide an open public forum to discuss
topics of interest to APNIC and the Internet community in the Asia Pacific
region.
There are five proposed SIG topics around which the discussions will
focus. These are Address Policy, Routing, DNS, Security in the APNIC
database, and IPv6. Each meeting will work to an agenda, which will
provide a framework for discussion and comment. Discussion papers on
specific agenda items will be released at least one month before the
meeting (where relevant).
We anticipate that each SIG group will provide a series of recommendations
to be presented at the Annual APNIC Member Meeting. The membership will
then have the opportunity to consider these recommendations with a view to
initiating or modifying policy. Where time is not available, further
discussion of topics and will be conducted on-line.
APNIC would like to invite all members of the Internet community to
provide feedback and comment on the draft agendas outlined below. In all
cases we would welcome constructive comment and feedback on the suggested
discussion items. Discussion will take place on the "apnic-talk" mailing
list. To subscribe to that list, send an email to <majordomo at apnic dot net>
with the words "subscribe apnic-talk" in the body of the message.
This is your forum to shape the future direction of policy in the Asia
Pacific region!
