Hi Vivek,
We would like some clarification on the following two points as they are not consistent.
> Increasing the maximum IPv4 delegation size from /23 to /23+/24 IPv4 address pool will allow Newcomers and also
> Existing APNIC account holders who only received /23 after Thursday, 28 February 2019 to receive 256 (/24) IPv4
> addresses.
The above point suggests regardless when an organization became an APNIC member, if they only received /23 after Thursday, 28 February 2019, they will be eligible to receive an additional /24.
What happens if an account holder had only received a /24 before Thursday, 28 February 2019? Would they be excluded from receiving this additional delegation?
Anyone who became a member after 28th February 2019 was only eligible for a maximum of /23. So anyone who received /23 after 28th Feb is eligible for extra /24. Anyone who only received /24 after 28th Feb is eligible for /23 (/24 as per
existing policy and /24 from this proposed policy).
> The Organization who became an APNIC member after Thursday, 28 February 2019 and received only /23, can receive
> another /24 IPv4 Resources.
The above point suggests that only those organizations who became an APNIC member after Thursday, 28 February 2019 are eligible for this additional delegation.
I understand your point, this statement not only applicable to members who were impacted by the change of policy from /22 to /23 on 28th Feb 2019 but Any member who only received /23 or /24 under previous policy (max delegation size of
/22 or before that), who had the opportunity to receive up to /22 and they either never asked for it or were not eligible that time can still apply for extra IPv4 addresses. This Is because we are suggesting to increase the maximum delegation size from /23
(512 IPv4 addresses) to /23 + /24 (768 IPv4 addresses), we have submitted the updated the text without any date reference to make sure there is no confusion.
A new version of the proposal "prop-141-v002: Change maximum delegation
size of IPv4 address from 512 ( /23 ) to 768 (/23+/24) addresses" has
been sent to the Policy SIG for review.
It will be presented at the Open Policy Meeting (OPM) at APNIC 52
on Thursday, 16 September 2021.
