[sig-policy] update regarding prop-061
FYI, RFC5398 has just been published by the IETF. In it, it states that:
---
IANA has reserved a contiguous block of 16 Autonomous System numbers
from the unallocated number range within the "16-bit" number set for
documentation purposes, namely 64496 - 64511, and a contiguous block
of 16 Autonomous System numbers from the "32-bit" number set for
documentation, namely 65536 - 65551. These reservations have been
documented in the IANA AS Number Registry [IANA.AS].
---
This reservation has been recorded in
http://www.iana.org/assignments/as-numbers/.
As one of the authors of prop-061, I believe that this RFC more than
adequately covers the modest request which Tomoya Yoshida, Gaurab Raj
Upadhaya and I made in prop-061.
As indicated by the Policy SIG chairs at the end of October, there is no
longer any need for prop-061 to be implemented by APNIC. I'd like to
thank the RFC author, Geoff Huston, for shepherding RFC5398 to its
successful publication.
Best wishes,
philip
