Hi all,
I am not for or against APNIC performing reachability test, however there is a
known fact that whenever an RIR introduce a new /8 block, its reachability is
problematic. Enough problem that some members have actually requested to return
allocations from the new block, to be replaced with address space from an old
block. What would you do if you're allocated a problematic block?
The obvious complaint point is APNIC and the other Registries, hence each of us
have spent some effort in debogonizing work.
I agree that education is the ultimate solution. Jas rightly pointed out a good
starting point at the *NOG forums. As I understand it, however, the proposal
merely suggests a coordinated approach to at least 'measure' the problem.
Cheers,
