[sig-policy] [prop-039-v002] A proposal to improve reachability of new I
Dear colleagues
The eight-week final comment period for the proposal, [prop-039-v002] "A
proposal to improve reachability of new IANA blocks", ended on Friday 17
November 2006. In the eight weeks leading up to the last day of the comment
period, there had been only one comment regarding a minor word change in the
proposal's introduction. However, on the afternoon of the last day, a strong
objection to the proposal was received.
According to the policy development process, a proposal must reach consensus
at each stage of the process. This means that, if we take the only two
comments received into account, we cannot say that consensus has been
reached on this proposal during the final call for comments.
However, due to the lateness of the single objection to the proposal,
supporters of the proposal did not have a chance to respond to the objection
before the deadline. Because of this, as Chair and Co-chairs of the Policy
SIG, we feel that to properly gauge community opinion on this proposal, we
should allow the community the opportunity to comment on the proposal and
objection received.
Therefore, we are extending the comment period for a further two weeks until
Friday 1 December 2006.
We urge you, as members of the community, to have your say on this policy
proposal. Your comments in this next two weeks will determine whether the
proposal reaches consensus or is deemed not to have reached consensus.
