[sig-nir] Re: NIR Policy Process BoF
FYI, this a a memo of what JPNIC do to encourage participation within
the JP Community. I am looking forward to exchange information with
you at the BoF.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
APNIC Policy Proposals
- translate, summarize, and explain the effect of policy proposals from APNIC and ask for feedbacks on the mailing list
--> Introduce the policy itself will not give us feedbacks, therefore, JPNIC explain how this policy would affect the
implementation, and ask further specific questions about the policy
- introduce major comments on the JPNIC mailing list to the APNIC mailing list, and vice versa
- When possible, translate minutes of APNIC meetings, APNIC meeting annoucements, and any call for volunteers(depending on
workload)
After APNIC meeting
- report the consensus on the mailing list
- report about the meeting on our mailmagazine
- report about the meeting in an LIR meeting(held 1 month after APNIC meeting)
- report and take consensus where necessary about APNIC consensus in JPNIC Open Policy Meeting
JPNIC Policy Proposals
- CFP on the mailing list
- Explain proposals from JPNIC to LIRs in LIR meetings
- Make proposals available in advance
Key to encourage participation
- Keep the community as informed as possible about APNIC policy activities
- Raise awareness on LIRs how policies would affect their operation
Future considerations
- how to have proposals from the community
- encourage more participation from the technical community like JANOG?
- Is there a better way to NIR community comments for AP proposals other than the mailing list?
--> Ideally speaking, NIR Open Policy Meeting should be held before & after the meeting, but difficult in practice
