They are an organisation that goes out into the provinces, does aptitude tests on the locals - young farmers, street kids and the alike, and then if they do well, they offer them a scholarship for two years.
They then come back to Phnom Penh (the big city) and are housed, taught english, and things like we would think are common skills... but how to conduct a meeting, write properly - even basic health.
Then they have 3 streams that ALL students are taught... Microsoft, Systems Admin (SuSE Linux) and they do Networking - CCNA Discovery 1-4. The students then decide which one they like the most and then go out in the world. The aim is to get them a job of US$300/month - which is way above the normal wage of factory workers ($50-75).
These guys are awesome, and 3 of my employees are graduates and I've been extremely happy.
The reason for the subject - who is coming to APNIC34 in Cambodia - is that I have a pile of equipment here in Sydney that I would like to donate to them to help their students learn better. They have minimal kit (3 devices). I have Cisco 2600's 2900, 3524, 3550, HP switches and so on.
It is just very expensive to get it here by Fedex as the mail system isn't really functional in this country but there are no restrictions to bringing in 1 or 2 things like that in your luggage.
So if anyone is in Sydney, and would be happy to bring something over. Please let me know off list and I will get you a device that you can pack and bring over so I can help these guys.
If however there are any organisations out there who have something spare that they would Fedex to my office here, please let me know and I will make sure it ends up in the right hands.
