[apnic-talk] [Apnic-announce] Policy Implementation 8 November 2010: Abu
Policy Implementation 8 November 2010: Abuse contact information
_______________________________________________________________________
Today, the APNIC Secretariat implemented a policy proposal that reached
consensus during APNIC 29 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in February 2010.
The APNIC Executive Council (EC) endorsed the proposal during its May
2010 meeting.
The policy proposal implemented is:
prop-079: Abuse Contact information
From today, an Incident Response Team (IRT) object reference will be
mandatory when any 'inetnum', 'inet6num', or 'aut-num' objects are
updated or created in the APNIC Whois Database.
This proposal achieved community consensus at APNIC 29. The aim of this
proposal was to improve the region's overall response to malicious
activity online.
APNIC resource holders may either:
- Prepare their own abuse contacts and processes, OR
- Find an upstream ISP or external CERT to be the contact for
abuse reports related to their network
APNIC has prepared information and links for resource holders on how to
establish abuse or CERT contacts in order to effectively deal with
abuse reports.
