Dear APNIC members and friends,
This is an update announcement about APNIC 19 with reminders of some
important events and dates.
This meeting is being held in conjunction with APRICOT 2005, and is now less
than a week away. Online registration has now closed. If you plan to attend
APNIC 19 and have not registered yet, you will need to register onsite at
APRICOT 2005 in Kyoto. The meeting website, including all relevant details,

1. APNIC tutorials & Internet governance

APNIC tutorial tracks include Dynamics of the policy development process,
spam prevention and ISP security strategy.
In addition, the UNDP's Asia Pacific Development Information Programme
(APDIP) will facilitate a special discussion session on Internet governance
on Tuesday 22 February 2005. This session aims to obtain the views of
technology practitioners in the Asia Pacific on the policy needs and
priorities created by emerging Internet technologies and technical
challenges.

2. "Unable to travel to the meeting?" - features remote participants

If you are unable to travel to Kyoto you are invited to participate in the
APNIC open policy meeting remotely via jabber 'chat' rooms, webcast and
live transcripts. Details of how to join the meeting are on the APNIC

3. Informational presentation proposals for SIGs

Informational presentations may still be submitted for all SIGs. Please
submit all proposals to <sig at apnic dot net> and the respective SIG chairs at:

4. DNSSEC Summit: Road map for DNSSEC deployment
------------------------------------------------
In conjunction with APRICOT 2005, there will be a DNSSEC Summit held on
21 February, featuring a mixture of short presentations and extended
discussions to examine the current DNSSEC architecture and discuss key
deployment issues. The summit is hoped to build a deployment road map
and identify difficulties that have to be overcome for wide
implementation of DNSSEC.
This session is not part of the APNIC program, but may be of interest
to many members of the APNIC community. Full details are available on

5. APRICOT pre-conference workshops
------------------------------------
APRICOT 2005 has regretfully cancelled some workshop courses due to a lack
of registration. However, the following workshop courses will be conducted
as originally scheduled:
- Network infrastructure security
- Network management tools and practices

6. Nominations for Executive Council

APNIC Executive Council election will be held during the APNIC Member
Meeting in Kyoto on Friday 25 February 2005. For more information on the

7. Hostmaster consultations
---------------------------
Members will also be able to book consultations with APNIC hostmasters
during the meeting so that resource requests and registration issues can be

8. MyAPNIC demo
---------------
A MyAPNIC demo will be on display at the APNIC helpdesk. Come and visit our
APNIC staff at the Helpdesk. The Helpdesk is located at the entrance of
