[apnic-talk][Apnic-announce] APNIC Training in the Pacific - Nuku.alofa,
APNIC, the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre, will hold a training
course in Internet resource management essentials at the International
Dateline Hotel, Tonga on friday, 3 October 2003. The training will be held
in conjunction with back to back events conducted by both the Pacific
Islands Telecommunications Association (PITA) and Pacific Islands Chapter
of Internet Society (PICISOC).
Who should attend?
The target audience is professionals located in the Asia Pacific region
with responsibility for requesting and managing Internet resources, such
as IP addresses, AS numbers.
Training would be of benefit to management and technical staff attending
the PITA/PICISOC events. Training is also aimed at APNIC members and
other members of the Internet community with an interest in Internet
resources and other important areas such as the APNIC Whois Database,
reverse DNS delegations, and spam & abuse handling.
What will the training cover?
The training will introduce APNIC and describe its role and addresses the
key question "What can APNIC do for me?" The training will also cover the
following topics:
. Introduction to the Internet organisational structure
. APNIC as a Regional Internet Registry (RIR)
. Internet resource statistics in the Pacific sub-region
. Internet resource policies and guidelines
. How to apply for Internet resources (IPv4, IPv6, AS numbers)
. Management of IP addresses and other Internet resources
. Concepts & usage of the APNIC Whois Database
. Preventing spam - Best current practices
. Reverse DNS delegation procedures
