APNIC OPEN POLICY MEETING - POST-MEETING UPDATE
___________________________________________________________
Dear Colleague,
This update provides a progress report on the implementation of
membership and policy decisions made at APNIC's 12th Open Policy
Meeting, held in Taipei from 28 to 31 August 2001.
-------------------
MEMBERSHIP ISSUES
-------------------
The following items were approved by the APNIC membership during the
APNIC Member Meeting on 31 August:
- Revised membership structure;
- APNIC Standard Membership Agreement (v5); and
- APNIC Definitions Document (v3).
The revised membership structure provides 3 new membership categories:
Associate, for members holding no IP address resources; Very Small, for
members holding up to a /22 of IPv4 address space; and Extra Large, for
members holding more than a /10 of IPv4 space. With this change, the
number of APNIC membership categories is increased to seven from the
current level of four (namely Small, Medium, Large and Very Large).
The revised membership structure, along with the new membership
agreement and definitions documents, will be implemented for new members
joining APNIC from 1 December 2001; and they will apply to existing
members as membership renewals occur, from 1 March 2002 onwards.
