KEY HIGHLIGHTS:
1. ELECTION OF NEW APNG CHAIRMAN
a. Nominations have been open for some time.
Please check http://www.apng.org/nominate.html
to submit your nominations before nominations close
in a week's time.
b. Online Election voting will take place after nominations close
and will carry on right up to the date of the General meeting
2. WORKING GROUP MEETINGS

All WG leaders are to submit their plans to Prof Li Xing
immediately, or else, no meeting room will be arranged.
Only APSIRC is having an informal mtg (Suguru Yamaguichi),
and iDNS working group is being proposed by Mr James Seng.
Other groups (EducWG) so far have not finalised on meeting details.
3. NOMINATION OF VICE CHAIRS AND WORKING GROUP CHAIRS
Please send in your recommendations to tinwee at pobox dot org dot sg
Working Group Chairs, please coordinate with Prof Li Xing
(xing at cernet dot edu dot cn)
on any change in your Working Group, or you will be reappointed.
4. APNG Incorporation and APNG2000 and APRICOT2000 meeting planning
This will be reported on. A sample planning chart is available
at http://www.apng.org/apricot2000/plan.html pending the convening of
the APstar2000 and APRICOT2000 organising committee.
Position papers are being written at this point. If you wish to
contribute, please send email to tinwee at pobox dot org dot sg.
5. Proposal of Emeritus Chairman position
I wish create a position of Emeritus Chairman and nominate
our former and founding Chairman, Professor Kilnam Chon
for outstanding service. The Emeritus Chairman will have an
automatic position on the Advisory Board of APNG.
I further propose that all future Chairs after they step down from their
Chairmanship should be eligible for voting to this position if
they continue to serve APNG and its affiliate groups. This will
help to provide the continuity from generation to generation of
APNG Chairs, and to encourage former chairs to continue to contribute
to the growth of APNG and its affiliated groups.
6. GENERAL MEETING AGENDA
Details will be sent in due course to this mailing list
and posted on www.apng.org
7. Any additional items
For any additional items to be raised on the AGENDA, please
submit to apng-sec at apng dot org by 14th June 1999 so that we can
include into our mailing list. Otherwise, we will have to
raise it on the day of the meeting itself.
Thank you and see you in San Jose.
Please repost this to other mailing lists as you see fit.
best rgds
