Assume our customer has the need for 1024 additional addresses. To simplify
routing I would like to give them a /22, but I do not have any single /22
free. Can I request for more space on this grounds, or should I consume
the 1024 addresses in 4 /24 chunks?
With regards to routing table entries, we currently have a /19.
If I'm not mistaken any additional allocation will be a totally different
block and we won't be able to stretch our net to a /18? If that is
the case then regardless of whether our customer gets their own
APNIC membership or not, we inject another route into the default-free
routers.
BTW, what software do you use for keeping the registry running?
I tried the APNIC FTP site and the RIPE web site but found nothing.
I'm interested in running my own registry which customers can use,
and can also create automatic updates for the APNIC database.
I'm having a tough time with allocation history, and especially,
projecting future growth.
The best customers are those who don't know what IP space is... just
give them a /30 :)
Cheers,
