18th APNIC Open Policy Meeting
31 August - 3 September 2004

Dear APNIC members and friends,
It is our pleasure to invite you to attend APNIC's 18th Open Policy
Meeting. The meeting is open to anyone with an interest in the
Internet in this region. It will be held at Sheraton Fiji Resort,
Nadi, Fiji, from 31 August to 3 September 2004.

1. Meeting registration
-----------------------
Registration is now open. To take advantage of early bird discount,
please register by Friday 30 July 2004. The online registration form

2. Meeting programme
--------------------
The meeting programme will include tutorials, Special Interest Groups
(SIGs), Birds of a Feather sessions (BOFs), hostmaster consultations,
APNIC Member Meeting (AMM) and social events. A draft programme is

In addition to the meeting programme, the first ever 4-day pre-conference
ISP/IXP networking workshop in Pacific will also be held in conjunction
with PITA on 26, 27, 28, and 30 August. Application form and more details

3. Call for SIG Proposals
-------------------------
The SIGs are open sessions at APNIC Open Policy Meetings during which
technical, policy and operational issues relating to the management of
Internet resources within the Asia Pacific region are discussed.
Proposals are welcome from anyone who would like to take part in any
SIGs. Detailed information is available at:

4. Fellowship programme
-----------------------
APNIC 18 Fellowship programme has been offered to allow members of the
Internet community in the developing economies of the Asia Pacific
region to attend in Nadi Fiji during August and September 2004. The
details of the programme and application form are available at;

5. Meeting sponsorship
----------------------------
Some sponsorship opportunities are still available. In return for their
support, sponsors will be presented with valuable opportunities to expose
their organisation, products, and services to an international audience
of Internet leaders. Details of sponsorship options are available in the

Prospective sponsors are encouraged to send expressions of interest as

6. Accommodation
----------------
We have arranged block hotel bookings, providing special discount rates for
meeting delegates at Sheraton Resorts. As only limited numbers of room are
available at the special rates, please make reservation as soon as possible
to avoid disappointment. All enquiries about the hotel reservations should
be made directly to the hotels. Please do not make bookings via Sheraton
online reservation system as rates are higher. The accommodation information
