I think another reason why I wouldn't want the AMM consensus removed is
because it is one of the few opportunities (if not the only one, outside
of EC elections) for APNIC members to directly influence the behaviour
of APNIC as *members*, rather than as individual speakers in an open
forum. I know the EC has to endorse the proposal, but it's not quite the
same as giving the members a forum to speak as actual members.
I'm also slightly concerned about the further concentration of authority
it provides to the SIG chair (as a role - this is not referring to any
person) if the AMM consensus is removed.

appropriate.
As discussed in my previous email, I don't think the consensus could
really be described as a hurdle, given it happens within 24 hours and
usually takes all of a couple of minutes. I again therefore don't see
the need for its removal to improve process efficiency.
