----------------------------------------------------------------------- APNIC EC returns "IPv4 address transfers" to Policy SIG ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear colleagues The APNIC EC (Executive Council), at its meeting on 21 May 2009, returned prop-050, "IPv4 address transfers", to the Policy SIG for further discussion. Minutes from this meeting will be available after they have been adopted at the June 2009 EC meeting. Below is the official notification from the EC: This is a response to the Policy Development Manager from the APNIC Executive Council. The APNIC Policy SIG Chair formally requested the APNIC EC to endorse Proposal-50 on the 20th May. According to the APNIC Policy Development Process: "The EC, in their capacity as representatives of the membership, will be asked to endorse the consensus proposals arising from the OPM and the SIG mailing lists for implementation at the next EC meeting. In reviewing the proposals for implementation, the EC may refer proposals back to the SIG for further discussion with clearly stated reasons." In its meeting of the 21st May the APNIC Executive Council has decided to refer Proposal-50 back to the Policy SIG. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- APNIC EC endorses "Global policy proposal for the allocation of IPv4 blocks to Regional Internet Registries" ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear colleagues The APNIC EC (Executive Council) endorsed the proposal prop-069, "Global policy proposal for the allocation of IPv4 blocks to Regional Internet Registries" at its meeting on 21 May 2009. Minutes from this meeting will be available after they have been adopted at the June 2009 EC meeting. Next steps ---------- APNIC is the first RIR community to adopt "Global policy proposal for the allocation of IPv4 blocks to Regional Internet Registries". The proposal must be adopted in all four remaining RIR regions before it can proceed to the final stages of the global policy development process. _____________________________________________________________________ prop-050: IPv4 address transfers _____________________________________________________________________ Dear colleagues The eight-week final comment period for the proposal 'IPv4 address transfers' has ended. During the comment period a number of people expressed concerns about safeguards against abuse ("loopholes"), which were not supported by the consensus in Manila. These are being worked as separate proposals to see if they can gain consensus with this proposal as the substrate. During the comment period, there were no substantial objections and only one serious objector. Therefore, the SIG Chairs deem that the proposal reached consensus during the final comment period. Hence we formally request the APNIC Executive Council to endorse this proposal.
