APNIC 19 - Call for proposals

19th APNIC Open Policy Meeting
21-25 February 2005
Kyoto, Japan
Dear Colleague,
The next Special Interest Group (SIG) meetings will be held in Kyoto,
Japan during APNIC's 19th Open Policy Meeting. The SIGs are open fora
for discussing technical, policy and operational issues relating to the
management of Internet resources within the Asia Pacific region.
This e-mail is a request for contributions. Proposals are welcome from
anyone interested in the management of Internet Resources in the Asia
Pacific region.
If you would like to take part in any SIGs, please submit a proposal by
19 January 2005, using the online form at:
http://www.apnic.net/cgi-bin/policy_proposal.pl
Alternatively you can send your proposal in TEXT format to the
appropriate SIG, cc'ing <sig(a)apnic.net>. Proposals will be forwarded to
the appropriate SIG mailing list by the Secretariat.
SIG presentation types
----------------------
a) Informational - typically a status report delivered to convey
information to the audience (I).
b) Policy proposal - a proposal which requires feedback and community
consensus before it can proceed (P).
Please mark your submission as either "I" or "P". The requirements below
apply only to policy proposals (P).
Policy proposal (P) requirements

Submissions should be:
- in TEXT format
- received no later than 19 January 2005
- relevant to the SIG
SIG archives and guidelines for presenters, including useful information,
helpful hints, and sample presentation templates are available at:

Agenda slots will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis, so a
timely submission of your proposal would be welcome and to your advantage.

The consensus policy decisions from the 18th APNIC Open Policy Meeting were
endorsed by the Executive Council (EC) on November 19th at their regular
monthly teleconference. The proposals endorsed by the EC are listed below:
[prop-005-v004] - Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) policy for
allocation of IPv6 blocks to Regional Internet Registries
[prop-021-v001] - Expansion of the initial allocation space for existing
IPv6 address space holders
[prop-022-v001] - A proposal to abolish redundant charges in IPv6 allocations
[prop-025-v001] - Proposal for an IPv6 IRR service at APNIC
Details of each policy proposal, presentations, and minutes of the SIG and

This is the final stage in the policy development process before
implementation.
