Dear Joyce and
Bikram,
I support your
idea of discussing how developing and following cyber norms can help build a better
response to Cyber Security Incidents in the region.
This discussion
is much required at this time when: 1. Cyber incidents are on the rise and the
attacks are cross jurisdictional in nature and 2. Most nations are upgrading
their Cyber security.
Discussing on
the existing efforts to develop such norms, how it will be beneficial for
nations and organizations to adhere to such norms and what more needs to be
done, would be a great start to this discussion.
Also
summarizing the discussion and sharing it with the community who may not be
able to attend the meeting in person, may be something which the SIG could
dwell upon.
Regards,
Amrita

Subject: [SIG-cooperation] greeting and welcome to APRICOT2020/APNIC 49
A happy new year all!
It is time to plan for another productive Cooperation SIG
session, scheduled on Tuesday 18 February @ 16:30 (UTC +10), during
APRICOT2020/APNIC 49 in Melbourne, Australia.
https://conference.apnic.net/49/program/schedule/#/day/7/cooperation-sig
We have had some good discussions and agreed to continue
with the theme of “Internet
Jurisdiction” as discussed at
APNIC 48, but proposing to focus on "Cyber Security Incidents". In
particular, we propose to explore how recent efforts in developing
"Cyber-Norms" can support incident response capabilities and prevent
escalation into cross-jurisdictional conflicts.
We are looking for your comments and feedabck on this
subject and also for expressions of interest to speak in this discussion as
experts.
Please provide your comments by Thursday, 30 January 2020
and we will announce the agenda shortly after the closing date.
Hope you all actively participate in the Cooperation SIG
discussions, either in person or remotely, and looking forward to see you this
year!
Regards
Joy Chan and Bikram Shrestha
