For those unaware and may be interested, this call for comments is an opportunity to hear from you on ways to support and expand the Domain Name Industry in the region.
Why is it important to get some Pacific input?
The Pacific Islands countries do not have established ICANN accredited registrars located in country. There are also a few ICANN accredited registrars in Australia and NZ. It's a business choice really (read the current criteria one has to satisfy to become ICANN accredited). A registrar has to establish relationships with the ccTLD / gTLD registry to register domains names under their top level domain.
Is this something that budding entrepreneurs / telcos or other ICT businesses may want to start in the region? Think about all the new gTLD registries that are into implementation stage now.
