Regarding INNOG5 sessions, registration, fellowship program and more!

Hello everyone, On behalf of INNOG PC, I would like to share that INNOG 5 program is now finalised. You can find our latest schedule here: https://innog.net/innog5-schedule/ This will be a three-day event starting on Tuesday. 3rd May (Tuesday) + 4th May (Wednesday) will be our workshops 5th May (Thursday) will be the conference day. This INNOG we also introduce the INNOG fellowship program <https://innog.net/fellowship/> for students. Any of the students here or around you can join us as official fellows. We will have a special workshop for them on DNS & Routing organised as well as a fellow only session before the conference starts on 5th May on "Careers in networking" by Mr Shailesh Gupta (VP @ Tata Comm). Undersea cable damages in the Atlantic?

We received the following email today from our upstream (in India): > Our transit traffic partners have reported multiple sub-sea cable > damages on the Atlantic route towards Europe and US east coast. Users > might face additional latency and occasional packet loss towards these > destinations. > > Our partners are working with relevant authorities and cable sea > companies for restoration and will take few days to address it. We > will inform as soon as this is resolved. Inconvenience caused is > highly regretted. I've read about cable cuts due to the Tonga volcanic eruption, but the above as "multiple cable damages" is mentioned as in the Atlantic. Does anyone know more about this? A news search for "cable cuts" didn't bring up anything aside from the Tonga story. Mukund

Webinar on IPv6 Migration: Need,Issues and Process Date:18-04-2022 Time: 11.00 AM IST : 5.30 AM UTC FromInternetSociety India Hyderabad Chapter Abstract:The ISoc Hyderabad Chapter Working Group on IPv6 is focusing on capacitybuilding from the Knowledge Sessions and IPv6 Deployment Projects, to engagetheir ISoc Academic Hubs on the most happening Technology. IPv6is one of the building blocks for new protocols at the Internet EngineeringTask Force (IETF). For example, much of the new work in Internet-of-Things(IoT) and Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication requires IPv6. Besides solvingthe address depletion problem, IPv6 brings advantages like delay-efficientrouting and packet processing, better security measures, simplified networkconfiguration, and proper end-to-end connectivity for peer-to-peerapplications. Migration, especially for large end-user organizations, comeswith some challenges in revising operational procedures and understanding thecomplexities of the new protocol. This talk will discuss the motivation tomigrate Institutional networks to IPv6, the significance of being IPv6-ready,and the challenges and opportunities depending on the experience gained whilemigrating a Institutional campus network to IPv6 in India. [Reminder] Connections 2022 - A post-IETF 113 Forum

See https://www.connections.iiesoc.in/programme Hope you have registered - https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_yHwimAdERDecnzVRWAmSVA == India Internet Engineering Society (IIESoc) & Industry Network Technology Council (INTC) will be organizing the 5th iteration of Connections a fully online event on April 2-8, 2022. https://www.connections.iiesoc.in/ The first Connections event was held in Bangalore in 2017 (with a subsequent one also in Bangalore in 2018). The third Connections event was held in Kolkata in 2019 before we went fully online in 2020 because of the pandemic. *This iteration will also be fully online, free, and generously sponsored by the **APNIC Foundation, Internet Society, Juniper Networks & Cisco Systems. * Connections is an annual event to get protocol developers, enterprises, academicians, and network operators together on the same platform to discuss the latest problems facing the internet and the solutions relevant to them. The event includes discussions on network deployments, operations, and the design of networks and protocols. The aim is also to educate and prepare new members for Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) involvement from underserved geographies and constituencies. This aligns well with the IIESoc's mission which is focused on bridging the gap between India and the internet standards whereas the INTC’s mission is focused on the impact of internet standards and technologies in the traditional “Brick-n-Mortar” Enterprise networks. We have a great line of speakers such as Bob Hinden (co-inventor of IPv6), Dr Paul Vixie (Internet Hall of Fame inductee), Adrian Farrel (GMPLS and PCE pioneer), Geoff Huston (Chief Scientist, APNIC), etc. The aim of the event is also to bring in diverse voices from all stakeholders in the Internet Community. The event focuses on technology trends in IPv6 Extension headers, IoT, DNS, the latest trends in networking as well as problems that might be keeping our speakers up at night! This time we are also focusing beyond IETF and discussing other standards developing organizations (SDOs) with a focus on private 5G networks, performance testing for Wi-Fi, and Broadband Forum User Services Platform (USP). The esteemed speakers include service providers such as Satish Jamadagni (Reliance Jio) and Barbara Stark (ex-AT&T). From the network equipment vendor side we have Ron Bonica (Juniper), Dr Pascal Thubert (Cisco), and Dr Dirk Trossen (Huawei). We have a panel on IoT with special representations from Indian startups founders such as Ravishankar G Shiroor (Stellapps), Rahul Jadhav (Accuknox), and Sundar Ramakrishnan (Pinaka Aerospace).
