I agree, the language shouldn't be a barrier - once we overcome it & we all
can benefit from a great collaboration.

Hi Akinori,
MAEMURA Akinori said the following on 8/3/06 15:30:
Just for discussion, SANOG, PacNOG, NZNOG are so fortunate to talk in
English that they can easily do that with their usual languages.
Well, I think the SANOG and PacNOG communities will probably talk in their
respective native languages of the countries participating; but on-list,
English is used, I agree, so maybe that helps the rest of us.
In this direction of sharing information, JANOG has an inherent
disadvantage of language. We are now under consideration about
increasing our communication capability in English as an organization
and we might come to publish such information once we get ready
someday.
It's not that everything needs to be cross-posted or forwarded, but
hopefully key points can be translated and forwarded, especially if they are
of wider interest. And I think the same can work in the other direction too.
It would be a great shame if language ends up being a barrier.
Practically so far, we intend more for mutual communication with other
NOGs than publishing our information to public, anticipating some
security threat which needs international cooperations. We will do
something in this way for the time being.
For sure!
The other point I should have mentioned in my previous reply was that many
of the NOGs and other Internet related organisations publish their meeting
calendar on the ISOC Workshop Resource Centre website
http://ws.edu.isoc.org/.
Not to mention the organizers mailing list at
http://ws.edu.isoc.org/mailing/organizers.php where folks responsible for
Ops meetings can join a mailing list such that when meeting arrangements are
made, we can ensure that conflicts are kept to the minimum.
These can also be used to help greater awareness of other activities in the
region.
