19th APNIC Open Policy Meeting

Dear APNIC members and friends,
It is a pleasure to invite you to attend APNIC's 19th Open Policy
Meeting, being held in conjunction with APRICOT 2005 from 21 to 25
February 2005 at Kyoto International Conference Hall in Kyoto, Japan.

1. Registration open
---------------------
Registration for APNIC 19, including the APNIC Member Meeting (AMM),
and APRICOT 2005 sessions, can now be made on the APRICOT 2005
registration site at:
http://www.2005.apricot.net
Please register before 12 January 2005 to take advantage of the
early-bird discount. APNIC members also receive an additional 25
percent discount by choosing the "APNIC Member" option and supplying
your APNIC account name. If you do not know you account name, please
contact meetings@apnic.net.

2. Meeting programme
---------------------
APNIC is working closely with the APRICOT organisers to deliver a
first-class programme of conference and training sessions. APNIC is
organising one of the tutorial and conference tracks.
The overall meeting programme schedules are as follows:
Pre-conference workshops 18 - 20 February
Tutorials 21 - 22 February
Conference 23 - 24 February
APNIC Member Meeting 25 February
APNIC tutorial tracks include Solve the Policy Puzzle, Spam and
Security. The conference tracks are IPv6, NIR, IX, DNS operations,
Policy, Database, and Routing SIGs. Further details of the APNIC Open
Policy Meeting are available at:

3. Meeting sponsorship
-----------------------
Some sponsorship opportunities are still available. Sponsor
organisations will be presented with valuable opportunities to expose
their organisation, products, and services to an international audience
of Internet leaders. Details of sponsorship options are available in

Prospective sponsors are encouraged to send expressions of interest as
soon as possible to the APNIC Secretariat at meetings@apnic.net.
4. Visa requirements
---------------------
It is strongly recommended that you contact your local Japanese
Consular Offices to determine whether or not a visa is required to
enter Japan as soon as possible because some visa applications can take
up to ONE MONTH to be processed.
For visa applications, you are required to complete the meeting
registration and hotel reservation before submitting the application.
The APRICOT 2005 Japan Executive Committee Office can assist with visa

5. APRICOT 2005 Fellowship Programme
-------------------------------------
Suitable applicants from developing countries are now invited to apply
for fellowship funding to participate in APRICOT 2005 in Kyoto. The
program provides basic assistance to successful fellows to cover local
living and registration expenses associated with attending the
conference.
Applications close on 20 December 2004. More detailed information is
