Dear all,

The IGF 2021 Best Practice Forum on Gender and Digital Rights is exploring the concept of gendered disinformation

You’re kindly invited to the BPF kick-off call on Tuesday 18 May, at 14:00 UTC.

At the call, the BPF coordination team will present the topic of this year’s BPF and it looks forward to discussing with you the intended approach and workplan.

As the phenomenon of disinformation advances, it gains nuances and levels of complexity. In this context, it is timely to explore gendered disinformation, its relation with online gender based violence and hate-speech, as well as its immediate effects on women and gender-diverse groups existence online and their freedom of expression. The main goal of the BPF is to map the strategies and actions by governments and the private sector to halt the spread of gendered disinformation and build a less toxic online environment for women and gender diverse groups online.

We also invite you to fill in a short survey, to help us collect background information, identify specialists and relevant resources on the topic of gendered disinformation.

On behalf of the BPF Gender & Digital Rights coordinating team,

Thank you for your cooperation!

Kind Regards,

Chenai, Amrita, Bruna, Debora, Marwa, Wim

Please do not hesitate to forward this invitation within your networks.
