[Wg-ipv6-guide] First message to wg-ipv6-guide

Welcome to the IPv6 guidelines working group!

Thank you to everyone for volunteering to work on this
document. There are currently around 20 participants in this
working group, which is a very good response to the call.

Working group operations:
------------------------
APNIC working groups are established and operate only as long as
they have work to do. Once this document is completed, the working
group will cease to exist. All discussion will be publically
archived on the APNIC website.

Objective of the WG:
------------------
At the request of the Policy SIG, this working group is requested to write
a guidelines document to support IPv6 allocation and assignment requests.
The aim is to write a clear document which will provide useful
information to anyone requesting an allocation and/or assigning
IPv6 addresses, similar to that already written for IPv4.

The document will be submitted to the <sig-policy@apnic.net>
mailing list for comment and feedback once a draft is complete.

The guidelines document is not intended to in any way, replace the current
IPv6 address allocation and assignment policy document (APNIC-089) at:

http://www.apnic.net/docs/policy/ipv6-address-policy.html

but rather to complement it.

Administrivia:
-------------
A chair is needed for the working group. If anyone would like to
volunteer for this, please email the group. If more than one person
volunteers, I suggest we have a number of co-chairs. This will
distribute the load.

Role of the Secretariat
-----------------------
As requested by the Policy SIG, the secretariat will be the document
editors. Text can be submitted in dot points, as brief as is desired.
The secretariat will write the text.

Timelines:
---------
It is hoped that a draft document can be submitted to the mailing list
by APNIC17.

Getting started:
---------------
The secretariat has produced a draft table of contents (ToC) to get the
discussion started. I will email this draft to the list in a separate
email.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me or the
list.

Thank you once again for volunteering some time to assist with this
document.

Best wishes,
Anne
