[SIG-IX] IX Switching gear
Hi,
We're currently looking at upgrading the switching fabric at the West
Australian Internet eXchange (www.waia.asn.au/waix) and I'm interested in
what everyone else is running as core switches in their exchanges and their
experiences? Currently we're running several Cisco 2924xl's which we're
looking at replacing with something a bit more modular.
I guess we're looking at least:
*Dual redundant power supply
*Minimum 48 10/100 ethernet ports
*Minimum 2 Gig copper/fiber or the ability to add in later
*Backplane of at least 4Gbps
*Reliable :-)
*Layer 3 would be nice, but not necessary
*Priced reasonably...
What models of the various well-regarded brands have people found to be
good, bad or otherwise?
All tips and pointers appreciated.
