Re: [sig-ipv6]Summary

Hi Kazu,

Thank you very much for sending your report. I have one question however:

1) IPv6 allocation update
        Tim Jones, APNIC

This is a regular report relating IPv6 addresses by APNIC.
Mr. Jones explained that the number of IPv6 address
allocation is still increasing. This is a good news.

The chair would like to ask APNIC staffs to continue this
regular report. If the HD ratio proposal will be approved by
the next time, it would be nice if the speaker will explain it
I dont understand the reference to the HD ratio. This is already a part of the current IPv6 allocation and assignment policy as the way to measure utilisation. There was an informational presentation at APNIC16 to replace the current 80% utilisation figure in IPv4 with the HD ratio. This is currently being discussed in other regions, but was only informational in the AP region.

Is there possibly some confusion with the IPv4 presentation or was there something else being referred to here? Either way the next status report from APNIC can certainly include a closer look at the HD ratio in IPv6 if that would be helpful.

Best wishes,
Anne

in this report.

2) IPv6 .kr DNS deployment status in Korea
Billy MH Cheon, Seung-hoon Lee (KRNIC)

Mr. Cheon showed us a plain on how to deply dual-stack DNS to
.kr. This project includes setup of dual-stack network,
deployment of dual DNS servers for .kr, and registration
system.

.jp is already operated by dual-stack DNS servers and .kr is
now following. I think the .kr community and .jp community
should write a guideline document on this so that other ccTLDs
can follow. I will take care of this.

3) IPv6 deployment metrics in Japan
Kenichi Kanayama (Intec NetCore, Inc)

Mr. Kanayama explained "IPv6 deployment metrics" which can
show how degree IPv6 has been deployed comparing to IPv4. One
guy suggested that dynamic information is much interesting
than static one. For instance, the registered information
cannot tell the exact number of IPv6 hosts. Traffic analysis
on IXes would tell. I think Mr. Kanayama should consider this
suggestion and improve the metrics.
