[sig-dns] ARIN XXI and RIPE 56

ARIN XXI

A bit late on this report. The meeting was held, wow, three weeks ago (time flies!). The full meeting report is available from this web page:
  http://www.arin.net/meetings/minutes/ARIN_XXI/index.html

No specific DNS topics were covered. ARIN does not have a special interest group nor a working group that covers DNS, unlike APNIC and RIPE.

There were a few policies regarding the exhaustion of IPv4, the results of the discussions can be found on that web site. In short, a revised proposal to distribute 1 /8-worth of addresses to each of the operating RIRs (at the time of the run out) received a favorable response. A cooperative approach to the last /8-worth of space was not greeted warmly. And debate raged on the possibility of a "market" for address transfers within the ARIN region.

RIPE 56 next week

RIPE 56 meets the first full calendar week of May, preceded by a CENTR Technical session for CENTR members. The agenda for the RIPE DNS-WG (spread over two sessions, Wednesday and Thursday) is as given on this web page:
    http://www.ripe.net/ripe/meetings/ripe-56/agendas/dns.html

Information on remote participation is given on this web page (covering all of the RIPE sessions):
