[sig-dns] Summary of DNS SIG from APNIC 20
Dear colleagues
The DNS SIG was held today during APNIC 20 in Hanoi. Joe Abley (DNS SIG
chair) was unable to attend, so I coordinated the meeting on his behalf.
This SIG was well attended with 50 participants.
Sanjaya from APNIC presented proposal [prop-030-v001] to end APNIC's
ip6.int services. The SIG reached consensus to proceed with this
proposal, pending approval at the remaining stages of the policy
development process.
George Michaelson from APNIC presented details of the implementation
of the proposal to remove lame DNS delegations, noting that to date
the project has had a significant positive impact. In the following
discussion, the Secretariat agreed to gather statistics on
undelegated domains.
Finally, Mathias Koerber made an informational presentation
discussing the increasing demand on DNS services and calling on input
from the Asia Pacific community to identify other potential probelms
for DNS caching systems.
This SIG raised the following new action items:
* dns-20-001: Pending approval at each remaining stage of
the policy proposal process, Secretariat to implement
proposal [prop-030-v001].
* dns-20-002: Secretariat to gather statistics revealing
the breakdown of ip6.int lookups and report back to the
DNS SIG at APNIC 21.
* dns-20-003: Secretariat to gather statistics about the
extent of undelegated domains and report back to the DNS
SIG at APNIC 21.
All presentations from the SIG are available from:

Minutes will be available within 1-2 weeks. In the meantime, an
unedited transcript of the session will be published within 24 hours at:

Kind regards
-George
