Ambitious Sri Lankan project to usher in e-governance

The ambitious e-Sri Lanka programme is the island nation?s first 
attempt to bring together all government institutions through 
networking and is expected to bring about a paradigm shift in the 
field of information and communication. The estimated cost of the 
five-year pilot project for e-Sri Lanka is likely to be US$ 300 
million. Already several nations and agencies have pledged support 
for the move and the World Bank is providing US$ 100 million for the 
first phase of the pilot project.
