[Admin] the sobig onslaught, and postings by non-members

dear all,

during the last ten days, the s-asia-it list received averagely 1,549 
emails per day -- a great majority of which were probably generated 
by the sobig virus/worm. while the antivirus software at the mailing 
list's mail servers block the virus/worm code and the list is made 
safer, there is an overhead as each would-be infection generates an 
email that is sent to the list manager.

to make the list management effective, please note that:


- postings can *only* be made by subscribers. 

- non-members are *not* allowed to post on the list. any email sent 
by a non-member to the list may be discarded without any intimation.

- administrative requests may be sent to owner-s-asia-it at lists dot 
apnic dot net.
