Huda for IT''s role in consolidating democracy

Communications Minister Nazmul Huda said Tuesday information
technology (IT) could play an important role in ensuring
transparency, accountability and consolidating democracy, reports
BSS.

He said the use of information technology should be expedited in the
activities of the communications ministry for ensuring its
transparency and accountability. The minister was addressing a
function at the Sarak Bhaban in the city on the occasion of launching
a website of the ministry.

Chaired by Communications Secretary Syed Rezaul Hayat, the function
was also addressed by Science and Information and Communication
Technology Minister Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan. Nazmul Huda said the latest
information of the ministry including progress of different
development projects and tender notices would be available through
this web-site. The new website is www.rhdbangladesh.org and
www.mocbangladesh.org.

Abdul Moyeen Khan said the overall uplift of the country depends on
the development of the communications systems. Appreciating the 12
Bangladeshi programmers, who were involved with the website, the
science and ICT minister hoped that the youth of the country would be
able to implement such projects at much lesser cost than foreign
experts. ( BSS)
