Dear friends at SAsiaIT:

Just a reminder that apart from the bytesforall@sarai.net mailing
list, our volunteer network also has another mailing list --
bytesforall_readers@yahoogroups.com. The difference is that, on this
list, you can post and take part in discussions related to
ICT-for-development in South Asia. (bytesforall@sarai.net is an
announcement-only group.)

If you would like to join, go to
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bytesforall_readers/

Currently there are 357 members in that group. It is a somewhat high
volume discussion-group. We peaked with 164 postings in the month of
May 2002 and some 155 in June 2002.

You need to be a subscriber of that group to read the archives. Some
postings are rather interesting, coming as they do from a wide
variety of readers...

Recent postings deal with subjects ranging from the Korean keyboard,
to the Simputer, the globalclassmates.com initiative, Japanese
support for community learning centres in Nepal, an Indian IT firm
that "converts disability into ability", the AMTA project, a
knowledge networking project for Southeast Asia, details of the
Global Junior Challenge 2002, Q.Isa's evaluation of Pakistan's
virtual university, Bangladesh plans to allow VoIP, a link to a
report on the Bangalore conference EJISD, plans for the first edition
of "Digital Review of the Asia-Pacific", Dhaka's campaign for
community radio, Lindows (Linux+Windows?... something of the sort),
plans for a conference on IT-and-nutrition in Kenya, a 'business case
study' of Open Source software, etc...

Thanks to Partha Sarkar of Dhaka, Bangladesh, for filling in the gap
with a discussion-oriented list (which got 855 posts since its launch
in July 2001), apart from our lower-volume announcement list (three
years old today!). Check it out... FN
