Internet Telephony guidelines by Indian Govt.

hi all

Government of India has announced the Internet Telephony guidelines, only
ISPs will be
allowed to provide this service see www.dotindia.com . This is not a forward
looking guidelines at all. Department of Telecom has made a mockery of the
transparent and
comprehensive exercise of public consultation which is really the right
democratic approach of policy formulation. The guidelines are illogical and
whimsical moreso because the ISPs have themselves submitted that Internet
Telephony should be allowed to all. DoT is now infact trying to license
software applications. I feel this is not opening up of Internet Telephony
in the true sense and GIPIs apprehensions have come true see
http://www.zdnetindia.com/news/national/stories/49499.html.

Best,
