- the department of biochemistry, university of karachi has started
offering a course on bioinformatics from january 2002. Details are
not available on the web. you may contact Dr Shamshad Zarina
<szed4@yahoo.com> who is the course incharge.

- last week (6-8 Feb 2002) "international conference on
bioinformatics 2002" [http://incob.biotec.or.th/ ] was held in
Bangkok. it was organised by the National Center for Genetic
Engineering and Biotechnology, Thailand [http://www.biotec.or.th/ ]
in collaboration with The Asia Pacific Bioinformatics Network
(APBioNet) [http://www.apbionet.org/ ]. the website of the Network
may provide you links to more information on bioinformatics courses
in the region. note that their focus is more on the south east asian
countries, but they aim to cover the whole region of asia-pacific.
