Re: [pacnog] Introduction and assitance required

Hi all,

Thanks to those who have responded so far. Those of you planning on
responding we are trying to have the report finalised by Friday lunch. So we
would appreciate as many responses as possible to get the most accurate
representation of the region.

Just to add something further, for those who have not yet responded you can
just give approximate numbers for the customer number question.

Example
-----------------------------------------------------------------
4.) How many users of the following technologies do you have?
     - PSTN = 40,000
     - Cellular (Mobile) = 23,000
     - ADSL/SDSL/SHDSL/VDSL = 15,500
     - Satellite = 2,300
------------------------------------------------------------------

As the main purpose of this is to generate percentages of the total
population. So that in the report it would read along the lines of

In Australia, there are approximately 75% of the population who have
some form of broadband access to the internet. While the remaining 25%,
only 90% of those have any form of access.

We are not interested in determining who has the best market share or
anything like that.

Thanks and best regards,
Zane.

Dear all,

For everyones' background, we have asked AusCERT for PacNOG the same
relationship it has with AusNOG for exchange and dissemination of
information

I am sure that this service and relationship involving exchange and
dissemination on cyber security information in the form of bulletins,
notices etc will be of great value in the operations, services and networks
that each one of the members operate and provide, in particular with the
pre-analysis and filtering scrap from useful information involved

If you need any assistance in relation to the form that Zane is requesting,
feel free to contact me or Zane.

We will certainly hear more from Zane in due course.

Thanks Zane

Cheers
Fred

Zane,

Welcome to the PacNOG list and grateful for the opportunity to meet last
week in Suva.

If I remember correctly the PITA org (via Fred Christopher) have stats to
answer your questions 1-4 below. It may require some updating.

So a plea to service providers from each country on this list to please
support AusCERT with this scoping study. Do take some time to fill the
questionnaire as these will truly reflect your views in the final report.

Establishing a CERT for the region will be beneficial to all.

Regards,
Save
