[KRNIC] Discussion Document for NIR meeting at APRICOT

Dear NIR member,
This is Seung-Min Lee at KRNIC.

I attached the text of a discussion document for the NIR meeting
at APRICOT.

This refers to agenda item number 3 "Dispatch a staff" proposal
by KRNIC
as circulated on 27th January.

I proposed following "Dispatch Staff to APNIC"  to improve and
provide better IP address allocation service for KRNIC's member
ISPs.

And the reason I posted in nir-discuss mailing group and put
on the agenda for NIR meeting is that I let you know our plan
and encourage any other NIR who interested in this plan.

Please read this document carefully in prior to the meeting so that
you can comment on the suggestions made here.

I am very keen to have your feedback or any ideas.

Proposal : "Dispatch staff to APNIC"

1. The objectives are:

   o To learn, understand and practice Internet resource
      management skills to improve and provide better
      IP address allocation service for our member ISPs,
   o Explain the status of Internet growth and needs of
      IP address space in Korea to obtain IP address
      space from upstream provider without any problems
   o To promote corporative through human resources
      exchange between both Organizations.

2. The cooperative methods which we proposed are :

   a. To provide education course not to occur any problems
       in domestic Internet resources allocation management.
       In detail, we will Invite APNIC staffs regularly (especially
       at KRNIC Workshop which held bi-annually) to provide
       education course to our member ISPs.

      The purposes are :
          - to educate and explain APNIC policy and procedure
          - to present and provide information about issues,
             trend, status and movement on International Internet
             society

   b. Dispatch a Staff to APNIC

       o Objective : To Learn, understand and practice Internet
                           resource management skills to improve and
                           provide better IP address allocation service
                           for our member ISPs,
       o Summary
             - Place : APNIC
             - Number of Staff : One
             - Terms : Apr. 1 ¡­Jun. 30, 2000. ( during 3 months )
       o Fees
            - Traveling, living expenses and other additional fees
               are in charge of KRNIC
       o Requests for APNIC supports are :
            - Support dispatch staff can learn and practice Internet
               address resources allocation and assignment
               management business as like intern staff.
            - Provide work space and office supplies for KRNIC staff

3. Further Schedule

      o Jan. 20, 2000. : Finalizing on Cooperative with APNIC Promotion
                                 Plan.
      o Feb. 27 ¡­ Mar. 1, 2000 : APRICOT2000
      o Mar. 5, 2000 : Finalizing an APNIC about details.
      o Apr. 1 ¡­ Jun. 20, 2000 : Dispatch a KRNIC staff to APNIC
