CALL FOR COMMENTS: DOCUMENT REVIEWS
  - Operational policies for National Internet Registries
    in the APNIC region
  - Criteria for the recognition of NIRs in the APNIC
    region

APNIC seeks comments on the following draft documents:

OPERATIONAL POLICIES FOR NATIONAL INTERNET REGISTRIES IN THE APNIC REGION

 * This document describes the operational procedures
   for resource allocation by APNIC to NIRs and NIR
   Members. It should be noted that address management
   policies are not described in this document.

 * The first draft of this document was discussed
   during the Open NIR Meeting and approved by the
   AMM during APNIC 15, subject to the APNIC Secretariat
   providing more detail of DNS issues.

 * A subsequent draft was circulated for comments on
   23 October 2002.

 * This draft incorporates comments received relating
   to improved DNS management options.

CRITERIA FOR THE RECOGNITION OF NIRS IN THE APNIC REGION

 * This document describes criteria for forming and
   recognising new National Internet Registries (NIRs) in the
   Asia Pacific region. The criteria are also intended to be
   adopted as standards that all recognised NIRs should meet
   at all times.

 * The first draft of this document was discussed
   during the Open NIR Meeting and approved by the
   AMM during APNIC 15.

 * Please note, APNIC is now accepting applications for NIR
   recognition on the basis of this provisionally active
   document. If you wish to apply as a National Internet
   Registry, please use the NIR application form.
