Dear Colleague,

This is an update announcement about the APNIC Open Policy Meeting,
with reminders of some important events and dates.

In this bulletin:

ADDRESS COUNCIL NOMINATIONS CLOSE ON TUESDAY 31 JULY 2001

This is the final call for nominations of individuals from the Asia
Pacific region to serve on the ASO Address Council.  Nominations
close on Tuesday 31 July 2001.  During October 2001, one Asia Pacific
Address Council seat will become vacant, and will be filled for the
next three years by an individual nominated through this open call.

The selection process will involve an open election to be held during
the Open Policy Meeting, on 31 August 2001. Further details and a

EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION EXTENDED TO 10 AUGUST

If you haven't already registered for the Open Policy Meeting you can
still take advantage of the early bird rate until Friday 10th August.

Early registration assists APNIC greatly in planning for the meeting,
and also provides a large saving on the normal registration fee:

GROUP BOOKINGS AT THE GRAND HOTEL CLOSED ON 27 JULY 2001

An urgent reminder about accommodation reservations at The Grand
Hotel. To ensure room availability you should register immediately,
as the group booking previously made by APNIC has now expired. 

The preferential room rate for meeting delegates is still available,
but room availability cannot be guaranteed.

ROUTING WORKSHOP REGISTRATIONS NOW CLOSED

Applications to attend the Routing Workshop that is being conducted
in conjunction with the Open Policy Meeting from Wednesday 22 to
Sunday 26 August 2001 have now closed. A large number of applications
were received and the successful candidates will be advised via
email. Preference has been given to APNIC members from developing
countries.

APNIC MEMBER MEETING - VOTING ISSUES

* "Standard APNIC Membership Agreement"
* "APNIC Definition Document"

Each of these draft documents has been released for public comment
previously and discussed at length in APNIC Open Policy Meetings. At
the close of the Final Call for Comments, APNIC had received no
additional comments on these documents. Accordingly, they will be
presented to the APNIC Member Meeting in Taipei, on 31 August 2001,
for approval by formal vote.

Note: The related document "Document Review Policies and Procedures"
has been referred to the Executive Council for approval, as indicated
in the final Call for Comments.
