Prevails in Domain Name Dispute
Jacuzzi, Inc., owner of rights in the mark JACUZZI,
challenged the domain name jacuzzi.net.au in this
first WIPO decision involving the .au domain. The
Australian respondent had used the JACUZZI name for
nearly 15 years.

ESNIC, a department of the Corporate Entity RED.ES,
the Spanish authority for the management of the
assignment of Internet domain names under the country
code ?.es?, announced in a press release on Tuesday
that the second phase of the progressive registry is
available starting September 6 and will end on October
21, 2005.

A devastating decision almost snuck up on us recently:
the provisional approval ? temporarily on hold ? to
add a new ".xxx" domain to the Internet, alongside
.com, .org and .net. This proposal was lobbied for by
pornographers, recently approved by the Internet
Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN),
and met by outrage from think tanks, therapists,
average citizens and family groups.

WSIS: USA für einen Gipfel ohne Folgen
Eine gemeinsame Antwort auf die Zukunft der
Netzverwaltung hat gestern in Genf der pakistanische
Botschafter Masood Khan gefordert. Khan muss bei der
Mitte des Monats in Genf startenden letzten
Vorbereitungskonferenz zum Weltgipfel der
Informationsgesellschaft (WSIS Prepcom) den
internationalen Kompromiss zur Struktur der künftigen
Aufsicht über die ICANN und zu einem möglichen neuen
Forum für internationale Netzpolitik schmieden. "Ohne
Ergebnis in der Frage Netzverwaltung haben wir kein
zufriedenstellendes Ergebnis für den gesamten Gipfel",
sagte Prepcom-Präsident Janis Karklins.
