au: Would the 'Real' Casey Donovan stand up? (reg
req'd)
The whole "fiasco" with the Casey Donovan website
(remember her? she won Australian Idol last weekend)
need never have happened. In fact there are a number
of factors that conspired to make it happen, some
under Telstra's control, some not. For those
completely in the dark about this - Telstra rushed an
advertisement into the newspapers promoting her
brand-new website and the fact that fans could
download her first song. Unfortunately, the web
address they posted pointed to a very adult-oriented
site of particular interest to gay men.

Kritik an Vorschlägen der ITU zur Netzverwaltung
Die Ländermanager des Dachverbandes Council of
European National TLD Registries (Centr) und die
Internet Governance Task Force Japan (IGTF-J) wollen
keine IP-Adressen länderweise vergeben lassen. Beide
Gremien nahmen in den vergangenen Tagen kritisch
Stellung zu den Vorschlägen des Direktors des
Standardisierungsbüros der International
Telecommunication Union, Houlin Zhao. Zhao hatte

Level Domain (TLD) .net abgeben. Dies beschlossen
internationale Domainunternehmen, Internet Service
Provider und Carrier, sind erfahrene nationale und
internationale Registrare und gleichermaßen Nutzer von
.de-, .com- und .net-Domains.

WSIS & GOVERNANCE

Civil Society processes in WSIS Phase II
Civil society groups involved in the World Summit on
the Information Society had some difficulties
concerning the transparency and inclusiveness of their
overall coordination structures. A review of the
structures and decision-making procedures was started
at PrepCom 1 in June and was finally kicked off at
last week’s meetings around the UN ICT Task Force in
Berlin.

WSIS PrepCom2 will be “stormy”
The UN Information and Communication Technology Task
Force (UN ICT TF) met in Berlin last week, and civil
society groups had a number of meetings around this
event. The conflicts and coalitions in the second
phase of the WSIS are becoming clearer now. One major
dispute is to be expected over financing.

Diritti e Wsis: critiche verso Tunisi e l'Unesco
società dell’informazione previsto a metà novembre
2005 in Tunisia.

Diesen Vorschlag machte beim siebten Treffen der UN
ICT Task Force, das am Wochenende in Berlin zu Ende
ging, deren Vizepräsident Talal Abu-Ghazaleh.
