The Salt Lake City Library will add filters to computers
used by children. And, if there is enough money, librarians
will allow adults to decide whether they want their
Internet filtered. The city's library board voted
unanimously Wednesday to change its Internet policy.
Before, the policy didn't call for filters, although
librarians monitored people's use to make sure they weren't
looking at pornographic sites. It will cost about $20,000
to add a filtering system to children's computers --
something Library Director Nancy Tessman said is doable.
