A Summary of the Final Report of the Second WIPO Internet
Domain Name Process
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)'s final
report on the Second Internet Domain Name Process makes
recommendations on how to deal with problems arising from
conflicts between domain names and a range of naming
systems, including standard nonproprietary names for
pharmaceutical substances, the names and acronyms of
international intergovernmental organizations, personal
names, geographical indications and terms and trade names.
These conflicts, which address issues other than typical
domain name trademark disputes such as cybersquatting,
represent important issues businesses face online. This
article summarized these issues and the significance of the
WIPO report.

Nominet news release - New moves for tag changes
Starting from 17th February 2003 the procedure for moving a
domain name from one tag holder (ISP or registration agent)
to another will be evolving. The majority of tag changes
will continue to be carried out automatically by tag
holders, for which there is no charge from Nominet.
However, in the small number of cases where Nominet has to
intervene manually to make tag changes, by completing an
online form and paying a £15 plus VAT fee to Nominet,
registrants will now be able to request that Nominet makes
a tag change on their behalf.
