Mainland Net rules 'hurting freedom' 
China has brought in 60 sets of rules to control Internet content
under which 14 people have been jailed for expressing personal views,
according to a New York-based rights group. 

"Tightening Chinese government controls on the Internet are having a
chilling effect on academic freedom, commercial exchanges and
ordinary communication," Human Rights Watch said in a report on
Internet regulation.
