Activist trial tests web freedom
A Chinese man who has been charged with subversion for using his
website as a forum for discussion on human rights and the 1989
Tiananmen Square massacre is scheduled to go on trial today.
Huang Qi, 36, was arrested last June and charged with inciting the
overthrow of the Communist Government. Human Rights Watch has called
his trial, in the Chengdu Intermediate People's Court in Sichuan
province, a significant test of the limits of free expression.
