Re: [apnic-talk] Chinese Visa's Advice

Hi Skeeve

Obviously APNIC can't give out Visa advice, we just aren't qualified to do it. However, if you have an Australian passport, you might want to refer to http://au.china-embassy.org/eng/ site. The visa info is http://au.china-embassy.org/eng/ls/

It might also be worth taking a look at the China page on http://www.smartraveller.gov.au/zw-cgi/view/Advice/China

For those with other than Australian passports.
The APNIC 28 meeting website http://meetings.apnic.net/28/beijing/visas
Lists the official Chinese Government web site http://english.gov.cn/2005-08/29/content_27141.htm

You can also try http://www.embassyworld.com/ which might help you find the local China Embassy in your part of the region.

If anybody has specific problems you can also contact APNIC on meetings@apnic.net <mailto:meetings@apnic.net>.

OK all,

This was not clear at Manilla.

Should we be applying for Tourist Visa’s or Business Visa’s.

If business, do we have a general invitation letter from APNIC/CNNIC available to use?

Sorry if these are simple questions, I’ve never been to mainland China and I want to make sure that if I choose Tourist, then someone isn’t going to throw me out of the country if I attend a work conference.
